Concept
Nilsa from Emerald Events by Nilsa, the shoot’s creative designer and planner, had the desire to pay homage to our home state of Virginia by creating a shoot that embodies that “Virginia is for Lovers.” We shot at Richmond Main Street Station, a historic train station in the state capital. Throughout the shoot, we featured colorful florals along with elegant ceremony and reception attire for our couple. The ceremony space was accented with a welcome poem about love. From the venue to the carefully selected five-course menu, there are so many little pieces of Virginia in every part of this shoot.

A particularly unique element of our shoot was the way we were able to incorporate popular Virginia foods. Our appetizers were oysters (since VA is nicknamed the Oyster Capital of the East Coast) and we ended with a delicious southern Apple Cobbler. Also, since every wedding needs a great cocktail, we knew spiked peanut punch would be the perfect signature cocktail to highlight everyone’s love for Virginia peanuts. Since VA is the home of Secretariat, we used horse stirrers in our signature drink. All of these little details added up to create a beautiful Vintage Virginia Glam shoot!

Theme, color palette?
Our color palette was a combination of purple, magenta, blush, cream, gold and rose gold. We wanted the colors of the shoot to really pop to create a bold and elegant look.

How were the fashion details chosen?
We wanted attire that would really stand out! The suit design was inspired by going for a bold, unforgettable look. It isn’t every day that a groom wears a tuxedo with print, so we were really excited that we were able to find the perfect design with gold accents to tie into our color palette. The bride’s attire was custom made – we wanted a look that was both sexy and alluring.
