Why go to the Caribbean islands when you can bring the islands to you? One mom did just that in honor of her daughter’s first birthday! Ariana Roberts brought the tropics to Texas with the help an event planner. The star of the show, little Skylar, wore a bright green and yellow tutu and floral tiara, just like a princess should! Roberts decided to have the party at her family home. From the place settings, to the bamboo-decorated dessert table and pony rides, we love how they transformed their home.

What is something fun you remembered either about the process or the big day?
The process was so easy, and the big day was amazing! Our party planner literally covered every aspect that I could have imagined.

Any tips you would share with others planning an event?
Yes, planning a party is not as easy as everyone may think. I am glad that I chose the party planner that I chose, because I feel that if I hadn’t, my baby’s 1st birthday party wouldn’t have been as successful.

What inspired your theme/style?
Skylar was born at the end of May, and I remember being pregnant and just thinking toward the end of my pregnancy how I wish I was on a tropical island because of how hot it was. When it was time to plan her birthday party I knew that I wanted something that wasn’t the “original” party and I wanted it to be different. I found the party planner I used and I gave her my vision and she exceeded my expectation of what I thought I would get.

What menu items did you serve?
Since this was a kids party, I wanted it to be simple and clean for them. So, we decided to go with Chick-fil-A. I must say that they absolutely loved it!

Describe your cake/desserts.
The cake was a tropical designed cake. It’s funny you ask if it was real or fake, because it was in fact real but all my guest thought that it was part of the decorations. It was so well put together that I did not have to add anything to it. The flavor of the cake was Birthday cake, and that was a combination of vanilla flavored cake along with sprinkles mixed in the batter.
