We are swooning over this effortlessly romantic photoshoot of lovebirds Zamyra and Adolphus. The couple chose the historic, downtown Memphis, Tennessee as the backdrop for their engagement shoot.

They say distance makes the heart grow fonder. For Memphis native Zamyra and her groom, Adolphus, they are ready to put seven years of long distance courting behind them.

“I’m looking forward to actually living with my husband and being in the same city,” said Zamyra.

The couple met in Memphis while Zamyra was planning a surprise baby shower for a mutual friend. Coincidently, they ended up being the Godparents for the child. Soon after that, they’d go on their first date!

We spoke with the couple about their engagement and their wedding plans.

Tell us about the perfect proposal.
He surprised me and came in town for New Year’s and my parents were still in town for Christmas. After I got off of work we went to the outlet mall and then dinner. After dinner, he took me down to the water fountain and proposed. It was the perfect ending to our evening.

For the engagement session, why did you pick the location?

We choose downtown Memphis because that is where we will be getting married and it’s where I grew up. Memphis is also where we met. We trusted our photographer on the actual shooting locations and she didn’t disappoint.

How is wedding planning going?

Wedding planning has been pretty stress free since we gave ourselves a year and an half to actually get married. We’ve had a lot of down time to actually enjoy being engaged and pace ourselves.

Are your vendors making planning a breeze?

Of course! Our photographer, Elizabeth Hoard, my hair stylist, Michelle Anderson, and makeup artist, Makeup by EJae are making it a breeze.
