Every single detail from this party was well executed. From the use of the sweet blush palette to the sweets table with a variety of beautifully designed cakes and treats. All topped with a retro candy bar.

What is something fun you remembered either about the process or the big day?
It flowed so easily, before and during, it was a level of enjoyment I haven’t had before. The setting, the movement of the entire party.

Anything super unique about the big day?
Having different cultural experiences, it showed my guests where we come from and let them experience who I really am, and letting them know how much each of them mean to me!

Any tips you would share with others planning an event?
Have an idea of what you want and know exactly what you don’t want before hand, present it to your event planner and then step back and let them do their job, it is so fun that way!

What was your planning experience like?
Absolutely, my event planner, Roxy and her team were amazing, I gave Roxy an idea of what I wanted and what I didn’t want and literally sat back and she did exactly the right thing, it was perfect!

The Location
The setting is incredible, floor to ceiling glass walls on all sides, overlooking Lake Ontario. When I moved to Burlington I fell in love with the venue from the outside after seeing a wedding party in there and stated at that moment I would celebrate my 50th birthday there.

The Fashion
How did you pick your event day outfit?
On line, I knew the fit I wanted and shopped and ordered, it worked out perfectly. I wanted to look pretty, and be comfortable at the same time, perfect level to dance the night away

Your Event Style
What inspired your theme/style?
Me. I wanted my style to be visible, soft and warm, yet vibrant and fun. Black, Gold, Pink. Soft, warm, vibrant and fun. I love this color combination. It is inviting and tasteful for everyone to see.

Party Details
What inspired your party style?
I wanted it to be elegant but not stuffy, I wanted everyone to be enveloped by the atmosphere, I wanted comfort with style, a spot in time that brought the enjoyment of life out in each guest, a time they could let go of all that holds them back and comfortably enjoy the evening without hesitation Roxy, she was amazing. After showing her my thoughts she presented me with ideas and it was easy. I wanted flowers and warmth

What menu items did you serve?
Something for everyone, appetizers, main course and dessert. Protein choices as well as vegetarian choices. The food was amazing.
The venue really had the food choices laid out, we just picked the package. I wanted as many choices as possible for my guests, so everyone was content.

Describe your cake/desserts.
Oh goodness, it was more than just a cake, it was an entire sweet table. I had several real cakes, as well as tarts, cupcakes, cake pops, macaroons. There were a variety of flavours for everyone. Chocolate, caramel, birthday cake, red velvet. My baker was amazing, she too took my ideas and made them perfect. The table was laid out all in the same color theme I had and gold elements, different heights for each treat. It was beautiful

How did you come up with your event day playlist?
I met with Roxy and the DJ team, once again, I told them what I didn’t want and told them a mix of what I wanted, and they made the playlist. My requests were NO slow songs, only music that made you want to dance. I wanted a variety for the ages, from the 80’s onward, as my guests ranged in age. The DJ pulled through!!!

Favors?
Oh yes! Each person had at their seat a plant in a gorgeous clear and ribbon wrapped box with a special note from me, expressing my gratitude for their place in my life. As well I had a “retro candy” table full, and dancing shoes for anyone who wished.
