We were drawn to the beautiful images from Dee and Major’s big day! They were able to execute the Great Gatsby theme like no other and it just proves that you can add personality and style and make a theme into your own! We can’t wait to share more excerpts from their big day!

Dee has always been in love with vintage themed weddings; particularly those that draw inspiration from the 1920’s. Both Major and Dee are very outgoing, love entertaining, and enjoy getting dressed up for a night out on the town. So, the idea of having a Great Gatsby themed wedding coupled with all the glitz and glam of the 1920’s was a ‘no-brainer’. As their wedding celebration took place in December, they chose deep purple, winter white, and gold for our wedding colors.

Dee continues to gush about her team:

We entrusted BCG Events and The Lightsource Company to execute our wedding vision for both the ceremony as well as the reception. Our Great Gatsby vision included lots of feathers, sequin, and mood lighting. For the ceremony, we wanted to create a very intimate and romantic setting, while giving our guests a small taste of the ‘over-the-top’ ambiance that they would experience during the reception. The ceremony alter space was decorated with 2 large feather displays and floating candles set on white pillars. Velvet white draping was done along the wall behind the alter to create a more intimate feel. Votive candles were placed along the aisle. The reception….one word…AMAZING! Many guests described it as a “1920’s Winter Wonderland’. The reception space included an assortment of large white feather arrangements, candles atop gold antique candelabras wrapped in white feathers boas, and various types of plush linen under mirrored table tops. Throughout the night, the lighting would change from various hues of purple and gold. The Lightsource Company created four unique Art Deco inspired go-bo lights which were displayed along a draped back wall and wooden dance floor.

And lastly here is some advice from Dee for all other brides to be! The best advice I can give regarding planning is that you get out of it what you put in. Surround yourself with the best team of people who have a passion for their craft and care about your happiness. Be willing to invest your own time because if you do not, then do not expect anyone else to invest their time either. If you do this, you will enjoy your day, you will have everlasting memories, and your wedding will be touted as the “BEST WEDDING EVER’, as many of our loved ones have proclaimed…and we apologetically agree. =)As Newlyweds, I believe the best advice we can give is to always keep God as the foundation of your marriage and build upon that. Love abundantly and without reservation…it will surely be reciprocated in every aspect of your life.
