There is nothing like capturing a couples love for each other through a camera lens. After tying the knot, this couple decided to showcase their love in the heart of downtown Madison, Wisconsin. Wanting to ensure that their photos capsuled their personalities, a bohemian styled shoot worked best for the loving couple. Completely in awe of this photo-shoot, we wanted to get more details  and tips from Christina, the planner for the shoot.

Concept
This fun shoot took place in the heart of downtown Madison, Wisconsin’s capital city. The goal was to showcase some original bohemian/industrial aspects to help paint a picture of this couples personal style and most importantly provide some fresh ideas and inspiration for brides tying the knot. The couple first “exchanged vows” at the capital courthouse and then ventured to their favorite hip restaurant Lucille’s, once historic bank building (vault lounge for after-party) turned specialty pizza, craft cocktail bar.

Theme, color palette?
bohemian-meets-industrial styled mock wedding. The color palette was a play on gold, creams, blush and some deeper red tones.

Anything super unique or fun about the shoot?

Intimate Venue:
Choose a location that reflects your personality as a couple. If you’re like many brides tying the knot in 2018, you may be opting for a smaller, more intimate wedding. Ditching the reception hall and electing a for a unique space (cue wood-fired pizzas & craft cocktails) will give your some major cool points with your guests.

Self-Serve Bar:
Take your event to the next level with a custom tap wall. Whether you’re serving beer, wine, champagne, (or all of the above) a tap wall is a creative and stylized way for guests to get their drink on. Custom tap walls, like this one from Borrowed Bar, can be designed to blend with the aesthetic and style of your day creating a cool, cohesive look.

Opt for Unconventional Invitations:
Your invites are the first impression you make on your guests- so why not give them something to talk about (& anticipate!?) Paper is cool and all but have you ever seen silk invitations? These hand-dyed silk invitations designed by Bash Creative Design paired with leather envelopes made for one dynamic duo. More and more brides are wanting stationery that really wows their guests- incorporating unconventional textures and materials is definitely a trend we’ll be seeing more of in 2018(Insert Stationery and Place Cards)

Creative Floral
Don’t get us wrong- we love the natural look of fresh florals, but incorporating floral embroidery is a trend that’s hard not to get excited about. Forgo the fresh flowers and add and embroidered pocket patch for a funky and fresh take on the boutonnière. Many elements in this editorial we’re inspired by the timeless art of hand-stitching. This stunning embroidery-inspired cake was meticulously designed by artisans at Curtis and Cake. This yummy work of art is a detail your guests won’t soon forget.

Rock a Custom Jacket:
Custom Bridal jackets have become quite the trend in 2018 and we can see why! Commemorate your day with a custom piece that you’ll be able to throw over your gown at the reception night- and wear after the day is over. This denim jacket was designed by Kelly owner of Bash Creative Design and tied into the overall aesthetic of the day, and the bride’s personal style (win, win!)

How were the fashion details chosen?
The fashion details were chosen from the creative and talented team of vendors and we all really seemed to be on the same page as far as the look we wanted to bring forth. Just as I love couples who want to go against the grain and express their personal styles on their wedding days, I seek out the same traits in vendors. After figuring out what I wanted to achieve with the styled shoot, I started reaching out to vendors who aligned with that vision. Because I’m always intentional about the professionals I choose to work with, everything far exceeded my expectations.

For example, we had a vision board for an embroidered floral jacket but not the actual details we were going to be used. In the meantime, I ordered some floral embroidered patches online and put them onto the groom’s shirt as an option for him to wear. When we got to the shoot, we realized that we had ordered the floral to match perfectly! Also, when Kelly Blexrud, owner of Bash Creative Design, told me she was going to create some off-the-grid invitations, I had full faith she wouldn’t disappoint. After all, not many people would think of hand stitching leather into an envelope and using a silk dyed pocket square to hand paint the invitation. It all came together perfectly for us basically.
